Tigers Drop 54 Contest In K.C.

The Royals trim the Tigers to take game two of their series

The Royals jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on to beat the Tigers 5-4 at Kauffman Stadium.  

Mike Moustakas connected for a two-run homer and Salvador Perez was 3-for-4 with a solo shot and two RBI.  

Burch Smith came away with the win, while Wily Peralta earned the save despite allowing a run.  

Jordan Zimmermann was tagged with the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits in five innings.

Victor Martinez hit a three-run shot in the seventh to help Detroit get back in the game, but they couldn't complete the comeback.  

In today's series finale, Matthew Boyd goes to the mound for Detroit against Kansas City's Danny Duffy.
