Tigers Down Yankees With Ninth Inning Rally

Zimmerman had a solid start, Peterson drove in winning run for the Tigers

Dustin Peterson doubled home the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning for his first big league hit as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 3-1 in the Bronx.

Jordy Mercer added an RBI single for insurance.

Jordan Zimmermann allowed one run in six-and-two-thirds innings in a no-decision.  

Joe Jimenez got the win and Shane Greene his third save.

Aroldis Chapman allowed both runs in the ninth to take the loss.  Starter Masahiro Tanaka pitched into the seventh.  Clint Frazier's second-inning sac-fly plated New York's lone run.

Matthew Boyd goes to the hill for Detroit in the MLB rubber match Thursday afternoon, while Jonathan Loaisiga pitches for New York.
