Detroit ends a fivegame losing streak

Niko Goodrum belted a two-run homer as the Tigers topped the Twins 4-1 to avoid a three-game sweep at Target Field.

Victor Martinez and JaCoby Jones also plated runs for Detroit, which put an end to a five-game losing streak.

Michael Fulmer yielded just one run over five-and-two-thirds innings to move to 2-and-3 while Shane Greene pitched a perfect ninth for his 11th save.

Kyle Gibson gave up three runs in six frames to dip to 1-and-3 for Minnesota.

Eddie Rosario had three hits and the lone RBI for the Twins, who went 4-and-5 on their homestand.
