Three Windsor roads have been voted some of the worst roads in Ontario.
The CAA has released its 16th annual Worst Roads list which includes the top five worst roads in the Southwest region which includes Chatham-Kent and Lambton County.
Plank Rd. in Sarnia was voted the worst road in the region followed by Ypres Ave. and College Ave. in Windsor. Tecumseh Rd. E. was fifth on the list, marking the fifth year in a row that road has been voted one of the worst in the region.
Government relations specialist, CAA South Central Ontario, Raymond Chan points to potholes and crumbling pavement as some of the reasons those roads made the list.
He says they want more permanent and dedicated funding toward things like infrastructure improvements.
"We want municipalities and also the province to start thinking about five, ten years, 20 years from now," says Chan. "What are the roads going to look like and how are we going to prepare? How are we going to budget to make sure they're in good shape?"
He says we live in Canada where we have a climate of a constant freeze and thaw cycle, which is a detriment to local infrastructure.
"Really what the campaign has been about and continues to be about, we want to keep things top of mind for our traveling public. Making sure they lets us know about some of the pain points are during their daily commute and, in turn, we hopefully begin conversations with local governments on how to get these fixed," says Chan.
Eglington Avenue in Toronto was voted the Worst Road in Ontario.
