A retired business professor in Windsor is concerned about a pledge being made by the New Democrats.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is promising three weeks of paid vacation for every full time employee, if she's elected to government.
Dr. Alfie Morgan says it may sound nice but the impact would be negative.
He says the small business sector would bear the majority of the costs.
"Now we're getting these promises for the purpose of the election, and at some point in time everybody wants to live up to the promises they promised and it would be disastrous in my opinion," says Morgan.
He says the outcome may not be what the party expects.
"With everything we do in this life there are unintended consequences. And this is going to be one of them. That somehow forget about full time employment. It's just that when other laws came in like this the people decided, especially with pensions and so on, they decided to keep everybody part time."
Dr. Morgan says small businesses will be hurt the most and larger companies will either absorb the cost or move out of the province.
