Windsor police have charged three men following a counterfeit investigation.
Police say last Wednesday (July 19) officers responded to a call at a business in the 2200 block of Huron Church Rd. for a report of a fraud. Officers were told a counterfeit U.S. $100 bill had been used at the business. Police received a description of the suspect as well as a licence plate number.
During the investigation, police found out the vehicle had been stolen from Toronto. Officers also discovered two other businesses refused to accept the bill.
While investigating the complaint from one of the businesses (on Wyandotte St. W.) officers spotted the suspect walking south on Randolph Ave. from Wyandotte St. with another male. Police say the men got into the stolen vehicle and they vehicle was stopped. Five men were inside and were all arrested. Police say two of the men were released with no charges.
Police have charged 22-year-old Ibrahim Ismail of Toronto with possession of counterfeit money and uttering counterfeit money.
Authorities have also charged 22-year-old Ibrahim Sahal of Windsor with possession of counterfeit money and 23-year-old Mahde Hure of Toronto with possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of counterfeit money and uttering counterfeit money.
