Three people are facing numerous charges following a violent home invasion in Chatham that police say was followed by threats against victims and witnesses.
Chatham-Kent police say a group forced their way into a home shortly before midnight on Aug. 10 by kicking in the front door. Investigators say several people inside were assaulted and personal property was stolen.
A 16-year-old boy was allegedly threatened with a knife, while a 19-year-old man was assaulted, choked and threatened with death.
Police say their investigation, which included witness statements and surveillance video, led to the identification of those involved.
Investigators later learned one of the accused allegedly contacted a victim through social media on Aug. 13, and threatened to kill the victims and shoot at the home after learning police were looking for him.
The following day, officers, including the Chatham-Kent Police Emergency Response Team, located the suspect at a residence in Chatham. Police say he tried to flee but was arrested without incident.
Numerous charges have been laid against three people in connection with the investigation.
