Dog and animal lovers listen up, this story is for you.
The 6th annual Woofa-Roo Pet Festival takes place this weekend in Amherstburg.
Director Lorene Clayton says there are a number of competitive events that attract participates from Canada and the United States.
"Dock diving, dog agility, lure coursing," says Clayton. "We have a police K9 unit coming in on Sunday. We have a tremendous number of things going on inside and outside of the festival grounds so we're basically weather proof."
She says it's a fun event for the community.
"We just offer a variety of very unusual things that other larger cities have but Windsor and the Essex County region doesn't really have it," says Clayton.
Clayton says the event draws roughly 10,000 people.
"We had poor weather in past years and actually we've hit that 10,000 mark," says Clayton. "I think it's because people know that if the weather isn't favourable they can come inside and enjoy socializing with their dogs in a very air conditioned dry environment."
The event runs from 9:30am until 5:30pm at the Libro Centre both Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is $5.
