The number of people in Windsor-Essex who turned out to vote in Monday's federal election is up, but voter turnout — based on the number of eligible voters —is down in three of the local ridings.
In Windsor-Tecumseh, about 3,000 more people cast a ballot with voter turnout at 59 per cent, which is down compared 2015.
In Windsor West, about 4,350 more votes were cast with a voter turnout of 54.9 per cent which is down compared to 2015.
In Essex, close to seven thousand more people voted compared to the previous federal election with voter turnout at 66.26 per cent, up from theh 2015 election.
In Chatham-Kent Leamington, 1,500 more people voted with a voter turnout of 62.35 per cent, which is down compared to 2015 federal election.
On a national level, voter turnout was 65.95 per cent as about 17.9 million Canadians voted this year.
Voter turnout across Canada during the 2015 federal election was 68.3 per cent.
