The smell of barbeque returns to Amherstburg this weekend.
The 10th annual Amherstburg Rotary Ribfest takes place at the Libro Centre.
Event Chair Anne Marie Favot says it's the first time the event has been held at the recreation complex.
She says the event was previously held at Centennial Park on Victoria Street South but the lands are no longer available since the public school board bought the property.
"We're open until 1 a.m. now because we're no longer in a residential area so we're able to stay open a little bit later for them," says Favot. "So our doors open at 11 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and for Friday and Saturday night we close at 1am and on Sunday we close at 8."
Favot tells AM800 News there is a lot of excitement for the new location.
"I think that a new venue also brings the excitement to the town," says Favot. "I think that there's going to be a couple of bumps along the way, just make sure what we've done right and maybe what we could have done better but I think it's going to be a really exciting weekend."
Favot adds this year's event features four ribbers along with other food vendors, rides and games and live entertainment.
"We have a bike show on Sunday which is classified as Family Day so we're going to have clowns and stilt walkers walking around and entertaining the crowd," says Favot. "Saturday we have, our judging happening at noon."
Favot says the ribbers along with the other vendors arrived on Thursday and are ready to go.
There is no admission fee but Favot says donations can be made at the front gate.
A shuttle service will be offered from the Wal-Mart parking lot and Centennial Park.
