The Fort in Amherstburg is coming back to bring the family fun!
The business closed in April 2021 due to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now a London, Ont. based company is reviving the Fun Centre located at 689 Texas Road.
Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, Christian Fournier, President & CEO, Tanggo Companies Inc. says many of the features and activities the community came to know and enjoy are returning.
"Bowling, arcade games, laser tag, the restaurant, beach volleyball et cetera. Unfortunately the driving range won't make a comeback but we do have exciting plans in the pipeline. We just haven't got all those details ironed out yet but we're thinking along the lines of sports simulators, food trucks and even possibly mini golf."
Fournier says the land where the driving range was is now being redeveloped for new housing.
He says his company formed in 2019, when he and ten friends came together to open Off The Wall Kids in London, an indoor playground centre that is directed more to younger kids.
"And with this we want to try something for older kids and adults with the hope of eventually bringing both of those models together under the same roof. The Amherstburg community was actually just a great combination of opportunity as the space was already here and a growing vibrant town that was in need of something like this."
Fournier says they do have an opening date in mind but aren't ready to share it just yet.
"Our top priority right now is really ensuring we have the right team in place, including a talented head chef and general manager. So once we have that dream team assembled then we'll be announcing a soft opening and then a grand opening date as well."
