The decision on whether to allow marijuana retail shops in Windsor will rest with the new city council that's elected October 22nd.
Chief Administrative Officer Onorio Colucci was in Toronto last week meeting with provincial officials and other C.A.O's.
"There's a lot of unknowns at this time and I think what my colleagues were saying on Friday, is we need more information to be able to make an informed decision," says Colucci.
Municipalities in Ontario will have until January 22nd to decide if they'll opt in or out of allowing pot shops.
He says there is still time for council to make an informed decision.
"The good news is that the opt out lasts through January 22nd, so we still got sometime to ask for more information and for the province to develop those guidelines that will help us make an informed report to council, so that they can make a choice between opting in or opting out," says Colucci.
Colucci says a report will come to the new council in the new year.
He says the new city council is expected to discuss the issue during the first council meeting of the new year.
