A Windsor landmark is coming down.
City council has approved the demolition of St. George's Church and Hall on Devonshire Court, which is in need of major renovations.
The church itself was built in 1955 while the hall was built in 1921 however both have been vacant for the last 18 months.
Ward 4 Councillor Chris Holt says "it'll be tough to see it go. I'm a little disappointed that we couldn't find somebody to do something with that building because it's going to be a loss, it's going to be a loss for the neighbourhood. It has the possibilities to do such good things for not just Walkerville or Ottawa St. but the entire city by adapting these churches into new uses that we're missing the boat."
The property is being rezoned for residential development.
