Thursday is the 27th Annual American Thanksgiving Day Football Classic.
The annual fundraiser is hosted by Advance Business Systems which selects a charitable organization each year to benefit from the event. This year's recipient is the Farrow Riverside Miracle Park which is under construction on the city's east side.
President and CEO Jack Jorgenson says the event draws locals and out-of-towners.
"We are expecting between 600 and 700 business people and over the years we've raised over $150,000 for different charities, some of which include Make A Wish Foundation, Children's Aid Youth Advisory Program last year, the year before that the John McGivney Centre and then Windsor Regional Hospital Children's Centre," he says.
Jorgenson says this year's they are hoping to raise over $12,000.
"People are very generous when they come to the event and children are involved, so it usually works out very, very well for the charity," he says. "This new Farrow Riverside Miracle Park will give children with disabilities access to the complete playground and to be able to play baseball, just as if they're in there with all the rest of the kids."
The event begins at 11am Thursday at the Windsor Yacht Club.
