A Dallas, Texas man has been arrested stemming from a child exploitation investigation here in Windsor.
Police say a 12-year-old local girl began communicating online in October 2016 with an unknown person via an instant messaging mobile app.
The victim thought she was communicating with another female peer, but the offender began enticing the girl into proving she was a female and to send photos of herself in various stages of undress.
The offender then demanded more sexually explicit photos and threatened that he would publish the photos he already had, if the victim didn't comply.
She eventually told her family who in turn notified police and the Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation.
Police determined the offender was from the state of Texas.
Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security, arrested a 25-year-old man who remains in custody.
There is the potential for more young victims to exist.
Police say this case serves as a great reminder for parents to talk about internet safety with their kids.
