Concerns are being raised about a rash of mischief at two elementary schools in Tecumseh.
Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti voiced his concerns last night at Tecumseh's council meeting after several incidents were reported in the past several weeks at AV Graham and St. Pius schools.
Rocks have been thrown through the windows and pellet guns have been used.
Bachetti says residents play a role in community safety.
"We raised it at council because it was one of the items we dealt with many years ago when the town hall and arena was being hit and vandalized," says Bachetti, wanting people to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity. "It affects the community because in terms of who has to pay for those damages, there is one taxpayer and insurance rates go up for not only the school board but it affects the morale of people walking in the park and the safety of everyone."
He says the OPP have been notified.
"I know the OPP, they are vigilant and do their job in terms of keeping a watch and hopefully secure more patrols out there," says Bachetti
