Tecumseh is looking to access its nearly $120,000 in surplus cash left over from the library strike that ran through 2016 and the early part of 2017.
On Tuesday, council passed a resolution to use its allocation of the $790,000 total surplus being held by the County of Essex.
The town is hoping to use the funds for capital improvements to the local library branch.
Library board member and Tecumseh councillor Andrew Dowie hopes to see some construction by next year.
"It's going to take a long time to get our ducks in a row to understand the plans and what is needed and make sure we do the right renovations at this time," says Dowie. "It's showing its age. Actually, it was renovated back when I was in high school, so it's been quite a long time now. It's time for a facelift and a polish and that's what we're hoping to get."
The 231-day strike began June 25, 2016.
