Even though the City of Windsor has wrapped up its Special Flood Material Pickup, the town of Tecumseh is still working its way through its streets.
Town Director of Public Works Dan Piescic says more pick-up is scheduled for today and Saturday and then it will re-evaluate the situation.
But he says it wouldn't be surprising if flood debris pick-up continues into early next week.
So far, more than 1000 metric tons of debris have been picked up. Normal weekly pick-up is about 100 metric tons and he says some streets have still not been passed over once.
"It is very slow going," says Piescic. "Some houses have got huge piles that fill up a truck with just their stuff and it causes our pick-up to be consistently slow."
In Tecumseh alone, more than 1500 households have called in about flooding after the storm two weeks ago that dumped more than 200 mm of rain in a short period of time.
