A soon to be redevelop park in Tecumseh could be named after Michael Rohrer.
On Tuesday, town council will be asked to name the small park at the corner of Riverside Dr. and Kensignton Blvd. after the late councillor. Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti says during the 2016 budget process, council agreed to redevelop the unnamed park. He says naming the park after Rohrer is fitting because he lived on Kensington.
Bachetti says the town has talked to the Rohrer family.
"There is an area located on the corner of Riverside and Kensington, which is currently not named, and therefore there is a recommendation coming to council Tuesday to dedicate this area Michael Rohrer Boulevard," says Bachetti.
He says it's a fitting tribute.
"As you know he lived on Kensington Blvd., so the fact that there is going to be a walkway that's going to be refurbished to concrete, there's also a recommendation to rename the walkway the Mike Rohrer Walkway that kind of heads towards his home."
If approved, the park would be known as "Michael Rohrer Boulevard." Bachetti says council will also be looking at naming a walkway in the park after Rohrer. He passed away last May.
