An administrative report dealing with a potential town hall expansion in Tecumseh is on the agenda tonight.
Councillor Andrew Dowie says a final decision will not be made this evening but council is being asked to send the item to 2018 budget deliberations.
The report calls for a 7000-square foot expansion at a cost of $2.81-million.
Dowie says a town hall expansion has been discussed in the past but not to this degree.
"The possibility of having a town hall construction has been part of our budget for a few years not really detailed but just that the prospect was out there," he says. "What we're receiving on Tuesday night is the report detailing what that means, what is in mind for a town hall expansion."

Dowie says the report states more space is needed.
"It's adding some space for some new offices," he says" "The administration has slightly grown and in recent years we've converted at the Town of Tecumseh some of the meeting rooms into offices and so it's tough to find space now."
Dowie says he wants to hear from the public but will also be asking administration a number of questions.
"The question becomes is this type of project is at the top of the list of what the community is asking for and is it something that is a need for health and safety or for ensuring continued services to the public."
If the item is sent to budget deliberations and approved, the project would be tendered in the second quarter of 2018.
