The Town of Tecumseh is hosting a public meeting next week to update residents and business owners on last year's flood.
Manager of Strategic Initiatives Lesley Racicot says the meeting will also provide information to help owners to protect their properties.
She says town engineers along with local plumbing contractors and home improvement suppliers will be on hand to answer questions.
"The problem is a lot of people may not have known what types of opportunities there are for them to improve their homes so that's why we wanted to bring in these plumbing contractors, the suppliers from local hardware stores so they can get an idea of what exactly there is for them to protect their homes," says Racicot.
Representatives from the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs will also be in attendance.
Tecumseh does offer two subsidy programs for flood prevention work. Details of the programs will be shared at the meeting.
To date, the town has received 300 applications for the programs.
The meeting takes place next Thursday from 3pm until 8pm at L'Essor Secondary School.
There will be two short presentations at 3:30 & 6pm.
