A fire on County Road 42 in Tecumseh just west of Manning Rd. is under control.
The fire broke out in a garage on the back half of a resident property after a vehicle caught fire around 2 pm.
Tecumseh Fire Chief Doug Pitre says 28 firefighters responded to the blaze and they borrowed a tanker from Lakeshore.
He says the fire started when two men were changing a gas tank for a truck.
"Upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames exiting the building. One person was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, not burn related, possible hip or back injury," Pitre says. "We were informed that somebody was changing a gas tank on a truck and the fire started. We haven't put the pieces together, how that would have caused the fire, but my fire prevention officer is going to be on the scene shortly and he'll start an investigation," says Pitre.
He says environmental services have been called in to prevent a small amount of oil from contaminating a nearby water source.
"We're now doing an investigation, also the ministry of environment has been called because of possible oil leaking into the ground water going into the canal in the back. It's nothing too severe but it's better to be safe than sorry," Pitre says.
