Tecumseh is calling it another "unprecedented rain event" overnight.
Initial estimates indicate the town received 150mm of rain in six hours. In comparison, the town received 175mm over six hours in September 2016.
The town is asking residents who experienced flooding in their basements to fill out a survey on its website to help the town collect data on areas of impact.
The town says all pump stations were operating with storm water pumped directly into Lake St. Clair, not through any treatment systems.
Crews also worked to remove any debris from grates leading to the pump stations to make sure the water was moving faster.
"Unfortunately these extreme weather events are a new reality and municipalities cannot install the types of systems required to handle this high volume of rain," says Mayor Gary McNamara.
