A band with roots in LaSalle is being honoured for Canada 150.
The Tea Party's song Fire in the Head hit iHeartradio's top 50 for Canada 150.
Released as part of their second album The Edges of Twilight in 1995, the track joins songs from Canadian legends The Tragically Hip, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and Spirit of the West, to name a few.
The band's blues-rock sound was part of the Canada's grunge movement in the early '90s and has evolved over the years.
They've released seven albums, most recently dropping The Ocean at the End in 2014.
Drummer Jeff Burrows says, "It's nice to be included amongst legends such as Gordon Lightfoot, and Sarah McLachlan, and Blue Rodeo, that's an amazing honour."
Burrows told AM800 News many people don't get to make a living doing what they love.
"There's not many people that get to says they do something that they really, really, love to do this long into their life," he says. "We had our first band in grade school, Jeff [Martin] and I. Then in high school we had bands with Stuart [Chatwood], you know, this has been going on for more than 30 years believe it or not."
Burrows says it's hard to pick a favourite out of the top 50, but if he had to choose he'd chose Gordon Lightfoot.
"I'd probably have to say The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, no? It's a truly Canadian song," says Burrows. "I'm sure the Tragically Hip have many in there, I love those guys, but I would have to say that, yeah, Gordon Lightfoot."
The Tea Party is playing show in Brantford for Canada 150 Saturday.
They'll be in Windsor for Bluesfest Thursday July 13, followed by a charity jam session at The Rondo in downtown Windsor after the show.
