Leamington residents will see a slight tax increase.
Deputy Mayor Larry Verbeke says council recently approved the 2019 budget in principle.
He says residents will see a 1.8% increase.
The increase means a house assessed at $175,000 will pay an additional $37.
Verbeke says it's a reasonable budget.
"Nobody wants to pay more taxes but considering it's going to be about 40 bucks a house, it's reasonable for what we have," says Verbeke. "We're getting a new fire truck, there's new stuff we're getting that we need to protect the community and if you still want the services and stuff it was well worth it."
He adds the budget includes improvements to the town's infrastructure.
"We're always trying to better the sewers, sewer separation and we're a little bit behind that but we have picked up a lot," says Verbeke. "Our drainage issue is another big step in the rural area out there trying to get the drains cleaned."
The budget also includes the addition of bike lanes on a section of Seacliffe Dr.
Verbeke says council is expected to officially approve the budget at its first meeting in April.
