It's budget time at Windsor city hall.
Deliberations begin today and, for the first time in several years, residents are looking at a potential tax increase.
The draft budget calls for a 2.7-percent increase and Councillor Hilary Payne is expecting a lot of discussion. "We're seeing a lot of delegates coming in already arguing that certain items should be left in the budget, etc. etc. So it's provoked a lot of public comments. I think the public, to a fair degree now, appreciates that you can't keep up zero for everything."
Payne would like to see a tax increase of no more than 1.5-percent.
Deliberations start at 3pm at city hall.
Stay tuned to AM800 through-out the day for all the latest updates from the budget deliberations.
