A big night for John Tavares.
Tavares scored twice and hit the 300-goal mark for his career in leading the Maple Leafs to a 4-2 victory over the Devils in New Jersey Thursday night in NHL action.
Mitch Marner and Ron Hainsey also scored for Toronto.
Tavares now has 29 goals and 50 points in 43 games for the Leafs after signing a seven-year, $77-million free-agent contract last summer.
His best season was 38 goals and 86 points in 2014-15 with the New York Islanders.
Left wing Zach Hyman was activated after missing eight games with an ankle injury.
