Sunscreen stations are now set-up at three Essex splash pads.
Similar to a soap dispenser, it will provide free sunscreen to users of the splash pads and nearby parks.
The idea was started by the Hedges family who lost their daughter Kari to melanoma cancer in 2014.
Kari's mother Cathy Hedges says her daughter was fair skinned and loved to be outside.
She says her daughter was diligent in using sunscreen but the melanoma she was diagnosed with at the age of 26, was not sun-related.
"She always reminded other people wear sunscreen, wear sunscreen, so we just thought it was a good project for her to use her name because she passed away from skin cancer," says Hedges.

Kari Hedges died at the age of 30.
Hedges hopes the sunscreen stations help others to protect themselves.
"It is emotional, there is no doubt about it, we have been working on this project for a while because we did a bunch of research before approaching the town of Essex because we thought I guess we better ask them first before we do this," she says.
The town installed the dispensers and will also maintain them. The family will only be responsible for refilling it with sunscreen.
The town worked closely with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit to create the stations.
