A big trade in the OHL involving Tecumseh native Jack Studnicka.
The 19-year-old forward has been traded by the Oshawa Generals to the Niagara IceDogs.
Studnicka -- who represented Canada at the World Juniors -- is going to Niagara along with defenceman 20-year-old Matt Brassard.
In return, Oshawa receives 16-year-old blueliner Lleyton Moore, three second round draft picks and three third round draft picks.
Studnicka was selected in the second round, 53rd overall, by the Boston Bruins in the 2017 NHL Draft.
He has 12 goals and 34 points in 30 games with Oshawa this season.
Oshawa GM Roger Hunt said Studnicka has been a great player for the Generals.
“Jack came in following our Memorial Cup year and right away proved he was a leader and the exact guy we needed to build our team around,” said Hunt following the trade. “While playing with the Gens he has represented Canada at the Under-17, Under-18 and World Junior level. It was a no brainer for him to become our captain two years ago and he will always be remembered as one of the great captains of the Oshawa Generals.”
Brassard, a Vancouver Canucks prospect, has 8 goals and 27 points in 35 games with the Generals.
Moore has two goals and 10 points in 28 games in his first OHL season with Niagara.
