A ridership increase for Transit Windsor.
Executive Director Pat Delmore says the bus service saw a ridership jump of 3.38 percent in 2017.
He says transit provided more than 6.7 million rides last year compared to 6.5 million in 2016, but adds there was a 0.37 percent drop in senior riders in 2017 compared to 2016.
"The drop was a very minimal amount," says Delmore. "It could be varied from year to year, up and down very small amounts like that so it certainly isn't a concern. The adult ridership was also recorded as down but what we are able to recognize is that students that were previously paying cash fare would be recorded as an adult and now under they U-Pass they're under the student categories."

The 3.38 percent is above the industry trend in other municipalities. He says other transit services are seeing less than a two percent increase in ridership and he expects the ridership increase trend to continue in 2018.
