Stroll the Streets has been all over Windsor, but Erie St. was a first for the group this past Saturday.
Justin Lafontaine and his crew look to create more foot traffic for the smaller more unique neighbourhoods in Windsor, this week it was Erie. St.
Lafontaine says it's all about enticing people to get out of their cars and take a walk for some free snacks and a little history.
"The tradition of strolling, which we're trying to get people out and about a little bit more," he says.
He says walking a neighbourhood used to be the norm, before big-box stores sprung up and they want to bring it back.
"Our parents and grandparents did that quiet al lot, so we're trying to say hey, we have some great urban villages in Windsor, we really need to get more people back into those communities strolling and supporting those businesses.
Mezzo Owner Phil mezzo tells AM800 News it's a great initiative.
"At Mezzo we've had 40 to the 30 people so far, we're offering little bite sized arancini to showcase some of our food," says Rocca.
"They get to look around and see our facilities that they've never seen before, we did renovate a couple years ago, so it's a good refresher of what we have to offer here on Erie St.."
Stroll on Windsor partners with the city of Windsor - Arts and Heritage Fund, Ford City Residents in Action, Ford City, Walkerville, Via Italia, Wyandotte Town Centre BIA's, and Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.
They plan on holding one more event in Ford City once the first snowfall hits.
