Striking nurses have been on the picket line for more than six weeks

The picket line in front of the Windsor Essex County Health Unit is under police scrutiny.

Officers were called after the striking nurses began using whistles as they walked the picket line.

Karen Bertrand, Vice President with ONA Region 5 says they were warned.

"We feel it's from the management team inside, we haven't heard anything from the neighborrs.  Actually the neighbours sent us flowers so anyway the police came and spoke with the management team and have left"

She says no talks are scheduled yet, but hopes to hear today.

Bertrand says the picket line was not as busy last week as they spoke at various councils.

"The strategy was to try to speak with council members to have them understand what the issues are and apply some pressure to the board"

More than 80 public health nurses have been out on strike since March 8, 2019.
