Striking health unit nurses are looking to put their time on the picket line to good use.
They will be holding a diaper drive this week and collecting diapers for the Downtown Mission.
Last Friday, more than 80 nurse practitioners, public health nurses and registered practical nurses walked off the job after rejecting the employer's final offer.
As a result of the strike, some programs at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit have been cancelled, but nurses believe they can still make a difference by providing much needed supplies to the mission.
Nurses will be collecting the diapers on Thursday, March 14 from 7:30am to 2:30pm and Friday, March 15 from 11am to 3pm at 1005 Ouellette Ave.
