Thanks to donations from the community, Street Help Homeless Centre on Wyandotte St. E. will once again be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner.
Administrator Christine Wilson-Furlonger says turkey with all the trimmings will be served.
She says the community has once again assisted the homeless centre in a big way.
"We have really been blessed by people in the community with turkeys, some cooked, some uncooked, potatoes, carrots," says Wilson-Furlonger. "We have apple pie and pumpkin pie and brussel sprouts and other veggies that we're going to be serving up. So we have a lot of food."
Wilson-Furlonger says the centre enjoys hosting the dinner on the actual holiday.
"We always want to have our holidays on the actual holiday so it's pretty exciting for us," says Wilson-Furlonger. "So we'll have extra staff here, extra volunteers, it's going to be a lot of fun and a great day for all of us."
She says a large turnout is expected.
"We usually have a minimum of 200 people come through here each day, that's a real minimum now a days," says Wilson-Furlonger. "We have a lot more people that come through everyday so we're going to expect probably about that same amount of people."
Wilson-Furlonger says the dinner will be held at 4pm.
The local Salvation Army along with the Downtown Mission held their Thanksgiving dinners on Sunday.
