A huge expansion at a Kingsville greenhouse operation is creating jobs and spreading the taste of fresh strawberries across the continent.
Mucci Farms is going from 12 to 24 acres under glass to grow strawberries.
They have a ribbon cutting today to show off the unique, hydroponic growing system developed with Dutch partners.
Mathew Walsh is the CFO for Mucci Farms.
He says their technology for growing the strawberries is a trade secret.

Walsh says this is a multi-million dollar project:
He says the trade-mark is creative and accurate:

"Really kind of reflects the flavour of these strawberries, when you taste them they are very flavourful" says Walsh, "Much more than you would fins in a traditional field berry. they are juicy so Smucci's is a good trademark. Not only a catchy trademark but also gives you a good idea of how these things taste"
Walsh says this expansion is creating 30 to 35 additional positions within their operation.
He adds the company is definitely eyeing future expansion.
