Some Windsor residents are more aware about stem cell and bone marrow donations.
An information session has been held at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Menard St.
Associate owner Dorothy Leung says it was an eye-opener for both her customers and her staff. "There's still maybe some questions out there in the community in terms of what the process and what are some of the eligibility criteria, so it was a good way to have Canadian Blood Services talk about what resources that they have."
The session was held last night in an effort to help 5-month-old Madalayna Ducharme, who suffers from a rare genetic bone disorder.
She's in need of a bone marrow transplant and a registration event takes place at the University of Windsor's CAW Student Centre on Monday from 10:30am until 3:30pm.
