Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling an estimated 47,771 vehicles to inspect and secure or replace, as needed, certain steering components.
The recall includes over 2,200 of the Windsor-built minivans that were sold in Canada.
A company investigation discovered certain minivans may have steering-system joints that could separate under rare circumstances.
It could happen when a single bolt’s torque is below specification, and when there is an improperly positioned aperture.
If both are present and separation occurs, a driver may lose directional control.
The recall covers the 2018 version of the minivan built between November 1, 2017, and March 1, 2018.
The automaker is unaware of any injuries or accidents related to the steering issue.
