Local philanthropist matches pledges for restoration

Local philanthropist Alan Quesnel has come through for Ste. Anne Church in Tecumseh.

As AM800 News reported last month, an anonymous donor made a commitment to match up to $1.25 million in funds, as long as the parish can find a donor or group to contribute the  remainder of the $2.5 million church restoration goal.

In addition to Quesnel's $1.25-million donation, 63 donors have come forward totaling $389,650 in pledges.

Ste. Anne Pastor Father Eugene Roy says he is astounded by the generous commitment.

He says now the parish can look forward to completing the restoration work to the remaining three walls of the church and the chapel.

The church has been in the community for 143 years.
