Expect to see some postal workers pounding the pavement outside of the Tecumseh post office this week.
Members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Windsor and District Labour Council are holding information pickets to demand staffing levels increase at the Tecumseh Rd. East office, east of Banwell Rd.
C.U.P.W Local 630 President Phil Lyons says the Tecumseh depot has seen a decrease in the number of workers by about 50% since 2008.
He says it has resulted in delays in mail delivery for residents who live in the N8N, N8P and N9K postal codes.
He says the workers who are left behind are overworked.
"The issues that the workers are having with working 12-14 hours a day, they not seeing their families." says Lyons.
He says the solution is more workers, not more community mailboxes.
"It is because the parcel and packet business have boomed it has gone through the roof," he says. "It is up 200-300% in the last 6-7 years and ideally when you are looking at it from a corporate standpoint, it is a lot easier to process letters than parcels and packets."

Lyons wants residents to contact their MPs to put pressure on Canada Post to add staff to the Tecumseh post office.
More information pickets are planned for Tuesday, Sept 12 from 12pm-1pm, Wednesday, Sept 13 from 4:30pm-5:30pm and Thursday, Sept 14, from 8am-9am.
