WINDSOR — St. Clair College is once again honouring some of its graduates.
The college has announced six recipients who will receive an Alumni of Distinction Award.
They are Will Bigelow, Flora DiMenna, Lori Kempe, Anita Riccio-Spagnuolo, Elizabeth Moses and Dave Merheje.
Merheje graduated in 2003 after studying business marketing.
He is now an actor and comedian and stars in the Hulu comedy series Ramy.
Merheje says a family member pushed him to go to college.
"My mom told me, she was the one, the key person to tell me to stay in school, go to college even though I knew I was going to pursue comedy, she asked if I would go to college and it was very important to me too, meeting all the friends that I had, that are still friends and just the experience," says Merheje.
Merheje says he's glad he went to college as it trained him to work hard in his craft.
"I went to school for marketing but I ended up doing stand-up but I adopted some of the work ethic from college to comedy."
Merheje also won a Juno award in 2019.
He grew up on Niagara Street in Windsor and attended Catholic Central High School.
It's the 28th year the college has handed out Alumni of Distinction Awards.
The awards will be handed out on April 7th.
