A spokesperson for a downtown dispensary that sells psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, says they will reopen even if they continue to get raided.
The spokesperson for Fun Guyz, who goes by Floyd, says that after Tuesday's raid they will reopen again as quickly as possible.
This is now the third time that police have raided the shop since they opened at the beginning of July 2023.
The shop was raided in early July, just days after they opened, and then raided on August 1 where $36,000 in drugs were seized.
Floyd says they anticipated these raids to happen.
"We understand that we're going to be running into a lot of these issues, but our mission remains the same and it's to reopen as quickly as possible for the public, and for consenting adults that want to be able to purchase psilocybin."
He says they will continue to push for legalization.
"We've actually launched a Charter challenge under Section 2(b) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms with respect to psilocybin. So we're looking to plead our case before the courts and present our evidence, and hopefully run some mediation that way."
He says they have heard nothing but positive feedback from the community, and that Windsorites don't want the shop to close down.
"A lot of people are annoyed, I guess would be the word, at the fact that the City is spending a lot of these resources and taking very useful time away from the police officers to be able to enforce some of their laws that they should be enforcing, which are a lot more problematic to the community."
Floyd says they haven't heard anything directly from city officials, but it's evident that the city doesn't want the shop open.
He says that as long as there is a demand in Windsor for psilocybin products, they will continue to open back up.
On the Health Canada website it states that there is an increasing interest in the potential therapeutic uses of magic mushrooms and of psilocybin.
Clinical trials with psilocybin have shown promising results, but Health Canada says that at this time, there are no approved therapeutic products containing psilocybin in Canada.
