Sean Allen will join the team Thursday from Oshawa

The Windsor Spitfires have acquired a new blueliner.

The Spits have acquired rugged, overage defenceman Sean Allen from the Oshawa Generals.

In exchange, the Gens get a conditional 5th round pick in the 2023 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

The 20-year-old spent the first four years of his OHL career between the Kitchener Rangers and Oshawa, where he logged 135 regular season and 16 playoff games over parts of the last three seasons.

"Sean is a great addition to our young defence core and he will provide leadership and toughness,"  says General Manager Warren Rychel. "We got some excellent reports from the St Louis Blues from his recent time at training camp with them."

Allen is set to arrive in Windsor Tuesday and is expected to suit up when the Spits open the 2018-19 regular season Thursday night hosting the Guelph Storm.
