The Spitfires will be looking to move back into at least a tie for first place in the OHL's West Division Friday night when they battle the Otters in Erie.
Saginaw took over solo possession of first Thursday night when they edged Ottawa 4-3, leaving the Spits and Flint tied for second place.
The Spirit are off Friday while the Firebirds play the Knights in London.
The Spitfires have also played two less games than Flint, and four fewer than the Spirit.
Windsor defenceman Grayson Ladd says they are only focused on the game against the Otters.
"In Erie, we've always struggled so hopefully we can get the win there first Friday night and then come back into Canada and Niagara and get the two points out of there, because obviously, like I said, it's very tight this year, so we need any points we can get."
Ladd says with Thomas Stevenson recently out of the lineup with a concussion it's meant extra playing time for the other five blueliners.
"We all play a lot of minutes and we're all kind of the same calibre of players so I think it's difficult, but you don't want to take any penalties you don't need to because penalty killing takes a lot out of you. I think just kind of keeping our game simple and getting the puck into the forwards hands and letting them do their jobs and I think that will help us out a lot this weekend."
Ladd tells AM800 Sports, the team is trying to forget about last Sunday's disappointing loss in overtime to Saginaw.
AM800 has the broadcast of Friday night's game starting at 6:45pm. The Spits also play the IceDogs Saturday night in St Catherines.
