Windsor goalie Michael DiPietro is back from a brief hiatus, and ready for a tough three-game grind.
Owen Sound sits in second place in the Midwest-Division with 22-points, just two back of a Kitchener team Windsor split a home and away series with over the weekend.
Thursday night's match up at the WFCU is a game the Spitfires won't be taking lightly, according to goalie Michael DiPietro.
The biggest test for the Spits will be in Sarnia before returning to Windsor to face the London Knights.
He says with not many weaknesses to speak of, the Spitfires will have to out the first-place Sting.
DiPietro — who just returned from backstopping team OHL to victory at the Canada-Russia Super Series in Sarnia Monday says picking up some wins over the next three games will create momentum going into five days off heading into next week.
"It won't be an easy game, none of the games this weekend will be easy, but I think it's a winnable game for us, and I think a good practice here today really sets us up for tomorrow."
DiPietro says with not many weaknesses to speak of, the Spitfires will have to out the first-place Sting.
"Tough game, we know coming in we know they're really skilled up-front, on the back-end they have a lot of depth too. I think we have to chip pucks in deep early, make them turn, and kind of play our game from the get-go, don't sit back on our heels."
Windsor is in third-place in the West-Division with 25 points. Sarnia maintains its hold on top spot in the CHL rankings.
The Spits face-off against the Owen Sound Attack at 7:05pm, tune into AM800 at 6:30pm for all the action from the WFCU Centre.
