The Windsor Spitfires will spend the weekend on the road — trading in their Thursday night home game for a bus trip to Ottawa.
The weekend starts with the game in Ottawa on Friday night, followed by an evening game in Peterborough on Saturday and a Sunday afternoon game in Kingston.
"I'm very excited obviously, it's big weekend, my first road trip in the OHL so I'm a bit nervous but it should be a fun weekend hanging around with the guys a lot and playing some good hockey, so I'm excited," says rookie winger Will Cuylle, on his first OHL road trip.
Defenceman Connor Corcoran thinks the team can beat anybody in the league, saying they can shock a lot of people with the team they have.
"We like to play fast so if we do that all weekend and everybody plays how they can play and everyone contributes, I think we'll be just fine," says Corcoran. "We're not really worrying about the opposing team, mostly just focusing on us."
Defenceman Grayson Ladd says the young club is motivated to prove itself on the road early in the season.
"I think it's more important to stick to our game plan, I think if we stick to our game plan we can play with anybody in the league," says Ladd. "Ottawa and Peterborough are pretty good teams this year, so they'll be tough."
Windsor plays in Ottawa on Friday night with the AM800 pre-game show getting underway at 6:45pm followed by a 7pm puck drop.
On Saturday, the Spits visit Peterborough with the AM800 pre-game show starting at 6:45pm, followed by 7:05 puck drop.
To wrap up the road trip, Windsor visits Kingston on Sunday afternoon — the AM800 pre-game show starts at 1:45pm and the game gets underway at 2pm.
