Former OHL Goalie Mark Packwood takes over for the recently-departed Joey Garland, who won three Memorial Cups and a Hockey Canada gold medal during his 13-year career with the Spits.
Packwood, 29, played 40 games for the Kitchener Rangers and Oshawa Generals between 2004 and 2008 before moving on to start his studies.
After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from Brock, he added a pair of Masters Degrees from the University of Western Ontario in London along with dozens of professional development courses.
"Mark played in the league and has been around the game a long time," says General Manager Warren Rychel. "But what really impressed me was his intelligence and his commitment. He's got more than enough education to be here and now the practical experience to replace Joey (Garland), who is a hard act to follow."
