Windsor Spitfire Goaltender Mike DiPietro has another reason to stop the puck.
He is dedicating the rest of the season to seven-year-old Ronny Betterley who died of brain cancer.
Betterley is from Chatham-Kent and developed a friendship with DiPietro ten months ago when he went to a game.
DiPietro says he feels blessed to have helped.
"Our friendship kinda grew with the help of this great organization, bringing him to games and meeting him after games and it was something I had the privilege of doing."
He says Ronny was all about the little things and during his last visit, the only thing he wanted to do was give DiPietro a hug.
"That was like his last wish," says DiPietro.
In a tweet, DiPietro said Ronny was his inspiration and "Rest easy buddy...you're home."
