The General Manager of the Windsor Spitfires believes the team will have to "score by committee" this season.
The Spits continue training camp at the WFCU Centre and, while he's impressed with some of the newcomers, Rychel admits they don't have a real sniper for the coming year.
"We don't have the one guy, the 40-goal guy, like we did in the past where we had a sniper," says Rychel. "But I think we'll be good by committee and the first three lines will really score."
The Spitfires scored 214 goals last season, the fifth fewest in the OHL.
He's looking for a good season from overage forward Igor Larionov, who put up 23 points in just 32 games last season.
"If Igor stays healthy, I expect him to be a point a game guy. I think he's a 70-point guy," says Rychel. "We'll see what happens and that's important that he stays healthy."
He's also excited about the development of 6-foot-7 defenceman Lev Starikov, who he calls really exciting.
"He's real good. Second year everything happens much easier for these kids, especially Europeans coming over, but he's done the work, he looks good," says Rychel. "He's rated in the NHL draft, he knows how important it is. {Assistant coach} Mike Weber works with him, I think we're looking at a heck of a hockey player."
The Spitfires on-ice sessions wrap-up Thursday before the team heads to Buffalo for the weekend for the 2nd annual OHL Showcase tournament.
