Windsor fought hard but couldn't pull out a win against the Sting Friday.
The Spitfires held their own in Sarnia against the top-ranked team in the CHL, but the Sting blew the game wide open in the third.
Sarnia struck on the powerplay just over 2:00 into the game, before Windsor answered with two goals of their own from Logan Brown and William Sirman to end the first-period with a 2-1 lead.
The Sting fought their way back with two goals in the second to make it 3-2. Windsor's Aaron Luchuk tied the game 3-3 early in the third, but that's when the floodgates opened with three unanswered-goals for a 6-3 final.
Rookie goalie Brock Baier stopped 21 of 26 shots before getting the hook — Lucas Patton took over mid-way through the third period, stopping six of the seven shots he faced.
Sarnia goalie Justin Fazio stopped 25 of 28 shots to grab the win.
Tune into AM800 as the Spitfires host the London Knights at the WFCU Centre at 2:05pm Sunday, their last game before a five day break.
