The Windsor Spitfires are making their way to Fort Erie this weekend.
The team opens up the OHL pre-season on Saturday against the Niagara Ice Dogs.
Assistant Coach Jerrod Smith says he's pleased with how the first few days of training camp has gone.
"It's obviously an exciting time especially when we get the real group together like we did Friday morning and I thought it was great energy," says Smith. "I thought all of our returning players came into camp in group shape which is so important, obviously coming into a big season."
Smith says he's already noticing some chemistry between players.
"We have some dynamic players in our line up and it's our job to put the right guys together," he says. "...These practices and the exhibition schedule to experiment with but we're excited about our crop here."
Smith says the team has reduced the number of players at camp.
"For us, it's nice to have the group we think we'll have right off the get go here and we're going to play everybody," says Smith. "We kind of have no choice, we don't have too many extra bodies around as you can see so we're going to treat it like we want to win every game in the exhibition schedule and that will be our mind set."
Puck drops at 7pm at the Fort Erie Leisureplex.
The Spits continue their pre-season on September 11th at home against the Flint Firebirds.
